Description

Transcription of gill-net events from Norwegian grey literature. The dataset covers gill-net test fishing results transcribed from grey literature (technical reports) throughout Norway.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 773 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

Event (core)
773
Occurrence
1130

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods

Survey test fishing data. The gill-net method employed are indicated in the "samplingProtocol" field and consists of variations around the Jensen series of single mesh size gill-nets (Jensen, 1986, J.Fish.Biol, 28, 637-646; https://doi.org/10.1111/j.1095-8649.1986.tb05198.x). Either bottom or floating gillnets, or reduced series (). Exceptions are where the gill-net employed is unknown (samplingProtocol = survey_litterature or survey_gillnet_unknown_*).

Study Extent The dataset consists of a collection of sampling events from various sources. Sampling events consist of one night of test fishing unless otherwise noted. "samplingEffort" indicates the number of gill-nets employed and "sampleSizeValue" indicate the total area of gill-nets employed (in square meters).
