Description

The freshwater benthic invertebrates’ collection at the NTNU University Museum dates back to 1962. Its material has been mainly collected in connection with regional mapping of species and nature types as well as effects of anthropogenic impacts, e.g. hydropower regulation, rotenone treatment and metal mine contamination. Todays’ collection covers the taxonomical groups Annelida, Coleoptera, Diptera, Ephemeroptera, Hemiptera, Neuroptera, Odonata, Plecoptera, Trichoptera, Acari, Crustacea, Mollusca and represents more than 450 species. The geographic coverage is essentially mid and northern Norway; the collection has been sampled from more than 1490 localities (rivers, streams, lakes and ponds) with more than 29600 sampling events.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 35,458 records.

2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
